In accordance with state and local laws, pet licenses are mandatory in Clermont County. In fact, licenses are mandatory in nearly every community across North America. Why? Because licenses help keep pets and the communities they live in safe. The fastest and easiest way to license or renew is right here. You’ll create a profile for your pet, upload any necessary documents, process your license registration, and receive purchase confirmations via email. Clermont County Details & Fees

Pet licenses are required for all dogs living in Clermont County. They must be renewed every year prior to December 31st. You will receive reminders from us about upcoming license expirations via mail, phone, and email.

Licenses purchased are non-refundable.

Under Ohio law all dogs older than three months of age must be licensed (ORC 955.01).  All dogs kept, sheltered or owned must display a valid registration tag. The law applies regardless of whether the dog is kept inside or out.

A $16 late fee will apply if you fail to license before February 1st.

A replacement Clermont County tag is available for a $5 fee or at no additional charge when you license your pet.

Puppy licenses are available from July 1st - December 1st for puppies aged 3-months and younger.

You may have entered your address incorrectly or we may not have your address in the address database for your community. Please double-check all spelling and ensure you are using the abbreviated form for your street type ex. St instead of Street. You may contact Clermont County Auditor's Office directly if you believe you reside within their jurisdiction but your address is not being accepted by the system.

No refunds are provided on licenses purchased regardless of circumstances.

All licenses expire each year on December 31st.

If you are not able to license your pet online via our DocuPet platform, you may call Clermont County Auditor's Office customer service team to update your record by calling 513-732-7150.

You may renew your pet's license within 45 days of your pet's current license expiration date. If you renew prior to the upcoming expiration date, your pet's new license will start the day after expiration, not on the date of purchase.

FEES AND FINES

No, there is no discount for licensing multiple pets. Each pet will be charged the appropriate licensing fee.

For all online orders a processing fee is applied on license purchases at a rate of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

Late fees come into effect if a license is not renewed by February 1st.

There are no senior rates to license your pet.

Clermont County Auditor's Office does not offer any special rates for veterans. Please call 513-732-7150 to directly to discuss.

TAGS

You can order and pay for a replacement tag online by logging into your account and selecting the "My Pets" page. Under the Licensing section on your "My Pet's" page, you will be able to click "Order Replacement License Tag". You can also order a replacement tag by calling the Clermont County Auditor Office at (513) 732-7150

ACCOUNT UPDATES

We're sorry for your loss. You can update a pet's profile via your online account or call the Clermont County Auditor Office who can take care of it for you if you call (513) 732-7150.

We’re sorry! Unfortunately, unless you tell the Clermont County Auditor Office that a pet is no longer in your care, we have no way of knowing. Have you already told the county? You may have a duplicate account. Get in touch with Clermont County's customer service team to update your record by calling (513) 732-7150.

If you are moving, please be sure to update your address by logging into your online account and navigating to your Profile Settings page. Even though you are moving, you’ll still be able to keep your pet's tag and access your pet's online account. However, your current license may not be valid in the new community you are moving to. Please get in touch with the pet licensing provider in the new community you are moving to in order to find out more information.

In order to activate your online account, you will need your access code and ZIP code. You may also activate your account with your pet's name, their existing tag number, your ZIP code, and your phone number. Your access code can be found on almost all communications sent to you from the Clermont County Auditor Office, including your mailed renewal letter and printed receipt. Otherwise, you can contact the Clermont County Auditor Office at (513) 732-7150.
